Be more positive
Positivity breeds positivity. Really. No matter what you are facing, if you can look at it with even an ounce of optimism, you have half of the battle under your belt.
That's sometimes a lot easier said than done. We've all been there when we've adopted the 'poor me' mentality and allowed the negativity to creep in. Here's a few pointers to help you keep on the straight and narrow with positivity.
Breathe - give yourself 5 minutes
Life can really run away with us. We get too consumed with work or whatever is going on in our lives that it is hard to remember to breathe. Just taking 5 minutes out can make a world of difference. 5 minutes away from everything can help you to reframe your mind, reenergise and free up the space in your head to be more productive.
Don't try and change what's happened
Everything in life passes and you get through it. Everything we think and feel will change, or even be forgotten. Don’t waste your energy going over things that have already happened, or anxiously going over what may come. Be in the now and know that in just a moment, it will pass.
Find one thing to be grateful for
At the end of the day when your head hits the pillow, lots of us dwell on the negative things that have happened during the day or think about what's to come tomorrow. I kept a gratitude diary during my yoga course and it really did alter the way I thought. I wrote in the diary every night,
listing something I was grateful for that day – some big, some small. I started to notice all of little things and become a lot more aware of all the things that I previously took for grated.
Everything happens for a reason - look for it
Find a silver lining in every situation, however hard it may be to see, and know that everything happens for a reason. With that mind-set, nothing can dampen your sparkle.
